The answer here is one inland hotel, held for three nights, with Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya visited as day trips out and back to the same verified room and the same vehicle.
Sri Lanka has almost no lift-equipped or tie-down-fitted vehicles, so this trip is built around a high-roof van, a portable ramp, a transfer board and two trained assistants, arranged well in advance. Two coastal nights near the airport — one on arrival, one before departure — take the long inland transfer off the two travel days that matter least for stamina, and put it in the middle of the trip instead.
Nothing here is oversold. Sigiriya rock itself, at roughly 1,200 steps, is not part of this trip; what is included is the water gardens, moat and museum at its base, visited early while the ground is calm and the stone is still cool.

Not in the way some destinations are — there are almost no lift-equipped or tie-down-fitted vehicles here. What we arrange instead is a high-roof van with a portable ramp and transfer board, and two trained assistants for every transfer. It works well within its limits, and we are direct with you about where those limits are.
Can we climb Sigiriya rock?
No. The rock is around 1,200 steps with no accessible alternative, so it is not part of this trip. You visit the water gardens, moat and museum at its base instead, on flat but uneven brick and gravel.
Why stay in one hotel for three nights instead of moving around?
Because we can verify one room and one vehicle properly, rather than gambling on access at a new hotel every night. Polonnaruwa and Sigiriya are both reached as day trips from the same base.
What happens if the wheelchair transfer into the safari jeep isn't comfortable on the day?
The safari is stood down and the afternoon is spent at the hotel instead. There is no obligation to attempt a transfer that does not feel right on the day.
Are wildlife sightings guaranteed on the safari?
No. Minneriya and Kaudulla are reliable parks for elephants in season, but sightings of wild animals can never be promised.
How much notice do you need to arrange the vehicle and assistants?
As much as possible. Suitable vehicles and trained assistants are limited in number, and we book them well ahead of your travel dates, subject to availability.
Why is the Sigiriya visit so early — 07:00?
Two reasons: the ground is calmer before the day's coach groups arrive, and the stone at religious sites becomes uncomfortably hot to touch after around 10:00. We do not schedule temple visits later in the day.
Can a wheelchair user travel this route without a companion?
We strongly recommend travelling with a companion. The two trained assistants handle transfers, but a companion is who makes day-to-day decisions and personal care straightforward.
What is the ground actually like, day to day?
Level or firm ground throughout: paved paths at the hotel, level stone terraces at Gal Vihara, and brick and gravel — uneven but flat — at Sigiriya's water gardens. The longest single stretch between vehicle stops is around 200 metres.
Is the accessible room guaranteed?
It is checked and confirmed at the point of quotation, then reconfirmed before you travel — but like any specific hotel room, it remains subject to availability until booking is complete.
